Our premium Say Mmm Plus service had a feature for automatically adding all the grocery items needed for meals and recipes to shopping lists, and we have decided to make part of the free Say Mmm service. We have gotten some good feedback on this feature and how helpful it has been to some of our users. Here is one of our favorite comments we have heard related to this feature:
“I make tuna casserole almost weekly. (Okay, I admit it: the only time I don’t make tuna casserole is when I forget to.) If I had to actually write down the fifteen ingredients in my tuna casserole every time I created a grocery list, I think I would go insane. First, I’d have to find a pen. Then I would have to sit still for five minutes, not freaking out while children crawled all over me trying to steal my pen. It was probably a mother like that who invented Tuna Helper.”
This grouping feature makes creating grocery lists a lot easier. For any recipe or meal idea, just add the grocery items needed once, and after you can just click or type the recipe name to have all the items needed pulled into your grocery list. For example, instead of writing out all the ingredients needed for lasagna each time, you can add them once and have them remembered for every time after that. The more you use Say Mmm, the more grocery lists become automated and effortless.
There are also meal and recipe ideas each week that can be saved and added to your meal planning calendar. Since the grocery list for these items is already included, all you have to do is add the recipe to the shopping list, and it will show all the items to buy and the common pantry items to check. Plus the items are organized by area of the store to save time shopping. See a video of how it works.
While we are making the grouping feature free, we are also making the storage limit for recipes more explicit. We didn’t really have a stated limit before, but are now limiting the number of free recipes that can be saved and organized to 100, and unlimited recipes would be part of the Say Mmm Plus plan. We have found a hundred recipes is a lot to work with for most users, and for those that would like to store more, we hope it is worth the $3 a month to help offset some of the costs of providing the service. Say Mmm Plus also comes with extra features, like price tracking and calorie counting, and doesn’t have ads. For current users with more than 100 recipes we have given them all higher limits.
