Rice and lentil congee 粥 zhōu

1 cup green lentils
1/2 cup white or brown rice
8 cups water
1 tsp salt
Optional seasonings:
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp chopped spring onion
To make into dessert:
Add a cinnamon stick and/or vanilla bean and 1/2 cup sugar to pot.
Wash lentils and rice well, place in rice cooker, and set for desired time.
