Chocolate-Cherry Fudge Bars

If you love chocolate covered cherries, this fudgy, sweet bar is a must-make. The simple bar format makes it a cinch to prepare, but the deep chocolate and sweet cherry flavors meld together into a very sophisticated, scrumptious treat. The fudgy texture makes it irresistible.

Crock Pot Vegetarian Split Pea Soup

Soup is always an easy choice to make in a crockpot. Just add the ingredients in the morning, and forget about it until you are ready to eat it hours later. Although many split pea soup recipes use ham for added flavor, this vegetarian and vegan version packs in the spices, including thyme, sage and bay leaves for a lower fat and cholesterol version of classic split pea soup.

Spicy Avocado Chicken Salad

Cool and creamy avocado tops this chicken salad making it an extra special lunchtime option. A great choice for an on-the-go meal or when you need something fast. Chicken salad is great all by itself, but when you add in avocado you make it even better. That’s because avocado is a great source...

Caramel Stuffed Brownies

I am completely obsessed with “better than” desserts. Well, cakes. Turns out, brownies can be made “better than…” after all! I  have to come clean with you though. I completely screwed …

The Ultimate S'more

What does a grown-up Girl Scout turned chef serve in camp? The ultimate in campground dining, made with homemade graham crackers and marshmallows. This recipe comes from Cindy Pawlcyn, chef-owner of the legendary Mustards Grill in Napa as well as Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen and Go Fish (both in St. Helena, California), and it's actually far easier than it looks. You make the bundles at home and then just heat them in camp.

Gnocchi with Squash and Sweet Corn

I am a self-declared pasta junkie (make that Italian food junkie), but have tendency to forget all about it during the warmer weather months. I often delegate these coveted carbs to fall and winter, when I am craving a hearty lasagna or a rich bolognese. I recently had an Aha! moment when I realized that fresh summer vegetables are just begging to be paired with pastas of all kinds—and not just in the obvious pasta salad. I know I am probably the last person to think of this, but surely better late than never.

Peach Cobbler

This is by far the best peach cobbler recipe I've found. It tastes more like the peach cobblers my mother and grandmother made. The dessert recipe is simple to make and all the ingredients are readily available. If friends or family are coming by, I can prepare this dessert, pop it in the oven and wait for the oohs and aahs as my guests are welcomed to our home by the warm aroma of fresh-baked peach cobbler. –Member Review

Hungarian Cabbage & Noodles

A great side dish or a meal on its own. This is a Polish/Hungarian dish. Can use bacon but I cut back on that to make it meatless. Also can garnish with poppy seeds. Adding peas for color and nutrition. Bacon is a yummy addition for those that eat meat. Just brown drain most of the fat then add butter and oil and brown onions. Be sure to give the onions a nice brown color using a med high heat.

Ramen Noodle Egg Foo Yung

I can't believe I like this dish as much as I do. I was surprised. This is a variation of a rather bland scrambled egg mix that I found on the net but turning it onto an egg foo yung is really special. Add your own favorite things but this is a good start. If you add water chestnuts, ham, shrimp, pork, whatever- then you will have to adjust the cooking time. This is a basic recipe- make it your own. But an easy recipe to amend- as soon as the egg is set- then it is done! I really love this and it is so good for a family on a budget or a bachelor short on time. If you want a terrific egg foo yung sauce then try this one Recipe#45270 .

Applesauce Raisin Bran Muffins

I checked and while I found many bran muffin recipes here, none were quite like this. I like this one not only because it is lower fat, but because it doesn't have as much added sugar, and it relies on the cereal more than the flour to make the batter. The muffins themselves are surprisingly moist and light in texture. I like the light sweetness of these and the crunchy muffin tops. (If you sprinkle a little extra cereal on top, they get an even better crunch, and improved appearance.) I found this recipe at www.mealsmatter.org. Watch these since the recipe stated they should bake in 20 minutes, but I found mine were done after about 15.

Milk-Free, Egg-Free Pancakes

My oldest daughter was severely allergic to milk for three+ years, then *poof* the allergy ceased to exist in her system. While she had this allergy, we struggled with Milk-Free recipes/food. I began making nearly everything from scratch. I bought a really great book, The Milk-Free Kitchen, where this recipe is from. We still make these soft, fluffy and delicious pancakes. I will also post the recipe for Milk-Free Blueberry Pancakes.

Grilled Asian Chicken Skewers

Chicken thighs offer all the benefits of boneless, skinless chicken breasts—convenience and fast cooking—without the tendency to turn tasteless and dry, thanks to their slightly higher fat content. The hearty flavor of thighs and their ability to stay juicy on the grill is sure to win over anyone who claims to be dark-meat averse. This recipe can easily work for kebabs (see variation), as chicken thighs lend themselves to kebabs, which make a nice change of pace on the grill.

Healthy No Bake Cookies

I played around with my family's No Bake Cookie recipe and produced a single portion of this cookie that I feel is healthy enough to eat as a meal. They're still very good but are much healthier. I keep getting asked for the recipe, so I finally decided to measure out the exact portions and post the recipe. THIS RECIPE IS VERY FLEXIBLE! When I make them I NEVER measure out anything and I often add more or less of ingredients and they still taste great. I sometimes leave out the wheat germ and flax seeds and just add more oatmeal. I have made these replacing the sugar with about 3 tablespoons of honey. I have changed the recipe from 1 tsp. to 1 Tbsp. of cocoa powder.

Chicken with Creamy Dijon Mustard Sauce

Living in rural Tuscany has its advantages - home fed chicken! So many of our dinners consist of chicken but to tell you the truth I had never thought of using mustard with it. So thanks to food52 I came up with a new recipe. I had guests for dinner and wanted to make a more elaborate dish so I chose to use only chicken thighs with a very velvety mustard sauce. I chose to cook the sauce in a French style using the classic method of using chicken stock and a little roux to give the sauce more smoothness. The sage and garlic gave it a really nice taste and I served it with mashed potatoes

Try this Easy Thai Sweet Chili Sauce recipe - it's super-easy to make and tastes better than the store-bought version. You can adjust the spice level to suit your taste, as well as the sweetness-sourness balance. Thai sweet chili sauce makes a superb condiment for many Thai dishes - excellent with chicken and fish/seafood! Also wonderful as a marinade for grilling, or as a dip for finger foods (try it with chicken wings or spring rolls!). ENJOY!
