At Eataly's pasta and pizza counter, Mario Batali's team serves three different pasta shapes with a choice of about five different sauces ("made by some crazy dudes," says Batali). For the first time ever, he's going to let his customers match the sauce with the pasta shape. This sauce, an ever-so-slightly creamy ragù made with ground beef, pancetta and ham, is flavored with tomato paste instead of canned tomatoes.
This Stuffed Green Peppers recipe contains Sweet Italian Sausage, long-grain brown rice, grated Parmesan cheese, green bell peppers, grated mozzarella cheese and more.
My local market had an impossible-to-resist pile of ripe avocados for an impossible-to-resist price so I came home with a big bagful. And while I'm a happy member of the avocado toast for breakfast club, I also needed to find other ways to use up my bounty. Here's a very simple and delicious avocado-based salad dressing that also makes a nice summer dip for crudites.
For a special supper, slow-roast a pork shoulder. Start the roast in the morning, and it will be ready for dinner. The skin crisps to crunchy cracklings, and the meat melts with juicy tenderness. Serve it with carrots butter-steamed in a slow-cooker, then finished with cream and olives. Add sauteed kale or a frisee salad and bread to round out the menu.
This layered one-pot dish can be assembled quickly and popped into the oven to bake while you're helping the kids with their homework (or finishing your own). This version is meatless, but there's nothing to stop you from sprinkling ground beef that has been seasoned and browned, between the layers, if you like. Serve with a spinach salad on the side for a complete meal. Ingredients with an asterisk (*) are available in the Whole Foods Market Family of Brands.
I originally found this taco casserole recipe in a Taste of Home magazine. Since then, I have made this recipe at least 50 times. I love it because the ingredients list isn't complicated and, based on the layers, I can readily remember all ingredients when I am at the store without my recipe card. I have served this for myself and had wonderful leftovers or many times I have made it for company with a nice green salad to accompany it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Roasted vegetables are an old standby, but how about roasted fruit? The steady abundance of citrus in Southern California yards and CSA boxes has inspired countless new ways to use these fruits and our latest trick is adding orange and mandarin slices to roasted vegetables. The citrus adds a sweet, caramelized flavor and brings a bit of sunniness to winter roots like carrots and parsnips.
California version of the classic Spanish gazpacho recipe. Chilled soup made with ripe, uncooked tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, celery, onion, and seasoned with fresh herbs, Tabasco sauce and Worcestershire sauce.
Forget everything you know about tuna cakes. Simple, cheesy and held together with hearty stuffing, these'll win over even those determined not to like seafood.
Think the foamy perfection of chocolate mousse can only be achieved at a restaurant? Think again. Top ours with Cool Whip and fresh raspberries for an elegant dessert.
This SB Crockpot Hungarian Pot Roast with Sour Cream and Paprika Gravy recipe contains sour cream, yellow onions, roasted red bell peppers, olive oil, diced tomatoes and more.
