A great, light, after-school snack for kids that is easy to make. Sliced apples are placed on buttered bread, then sprinkled with cinnamon and quickly broiled.
This is an old Southern recipe. When we got home from a trip through the South years ago, I found the recipe among the brochures I brought back. I've been making these fritters ever since. -John Robbins, Springdale, Pennsylvania
This homemade pudding in this layered dessert is divine, economical, and uses on-hand staples such as milk, eggs, flour, sugar and bananas. The peanut butter sandwich cookies take this trifle over the top.
A Devil’s food crust topped with a peanut butter ooey gooey layer. There are few things more decadent in this world. We spent the day with friends swimming, playing cornhole, passing babies around, and eating copious amounts of really good food. You know…the kind of day where you’re not so concerned that naptime is being missed …
I received this an email from ATK. I substituted dried cranraisins for the dried cherries, semi-sweet chocolate chips for bittersweet chocolate and used my hand mixer. Dried cranberries may also be used instead of the cherries. Quick oats may be used instead but will yield a cookie with slightly less chewiness. These cookies will keep for 4 to 5 days stored in airtight container or zipper-lock bag, but they will lose their crisp exterior and become uniformly chewy after a day or so. I only baked one cookie tray at a time. These were very good. I froze them in individual bags for a sweet treat.
Lemon juice, garlic, and sage boost the flavor of the turkey breast, while apple jelly provides a subtly sweet finish. Make this for dinner any time of the year.
