Grilled Ham and Asparagus Panini Recipe from Festival Foods. This is by far my most favorite sandwich of the month. I like mine with roasted asparagus and sourdough bread. Another great option is using some melty Fontina or farmers cheese. I have also made this with thick pita bread and it adds another dimension. I love to make this sandwich for those days when you want something from those expensive Bistros, but also want to make it your own. Please try your own style and let me know how it turns out for you!
This is an original recipe by Susan V from fatfreevegan.com. It's so easy to make and incredibly yummy! You can buy Vital Wheat Gluten at most grocery stores (look for Bob's Red Mill). I did not have nutritional yeast so I omitted this ingredient with no lack of taste. These were quot;grilledquot; on a griddle and it worked out great. My meat eater hubby loved it as did the kids. Check out http://everydaydish.tv/cookingshow_video.html for a video on how to make this. (it's under Susan's Ribz).
Chefs call using more than one form of the same ingredient layering, which is the key to the intense tomato flavor in this low-cal chicken dish. (You can just call it yum.)
In 15 minutes you'll have super-delish mini sammys complete with turkey, Cheddar and a bacon-tomato topping. No frilly toothpicks required. Beat that, corner deli!
Spicy beef. Shredded cheese. Hearty beans. Fresh lettuce and tomato and a dollop of sour cream atop a crispy tortilla. Can a recipe this tasty be better-for-you? Oh yes, it can.
Portobello mushrooms, marinated in reduced fat Italian dressing, are grilled and layered with fresh spinach and tomato slices in crusty rolls for tasty meatless sandwiches.
Think you've tasted refried beans? You haven't tasted anything until you've taken a bite of our melty-cheese-and-tomato version. Better than just good. Supreme.
