This is a very easy recipe (just the kind I like!) that I got from my sister-in-law. I like to make it in winter as a way to capture the barbecues of summer.
An easy tomatillo and pork stew that is my boyfriend's favorite. Make it as spicy as you like by adding more or less jalapenos, or do not add any if you have a more tender palate.
Cabbage cooked in bacon drippings and seasoned with garlic, red pepper flakes and caraway seeds makes a cozy nest for smoked Polish-style sausage in this homey, hearty and satisfying supper.
Bacon, onions and pickles are wrapped in thin slices of flank steak, browned in butter, then simmered in beef broth. Serve with spaetzle to soak up the gravy.
'Heaven on a spoon' is how one friend describes this chocolaty dessert. My husband, Allen rates it best of all the special treats I've made. The filling can also be used for a pie.
